Let’s do the third-person thing so my accomplishments would sound like someone else actually believed them!
Gaston Soto is a Peruvian GCD / Head of Art who has had the opportunity to work in 4 countries across 3 continents. From Lima in Peru to Buenos Aires in Argentina to Chicago, USA and Singapore.
Over the last 18 years, he has built up a global portfolio that includes brands like Heineken, Absolut, Samsung, Nike, IKEA, Uber, Google, McDonald's, Singtel, Kellogg’s, P&G, Unilever, Chupachups and Allstate. A lot of that work has travelled across borders, into the fringes of pop-culture and the alternate universe of advertising award shows, winning him over 150 awards, including One Show pencils, D&AD, Cannes Lions, Clios, Andys, NYF, LIA, including being nominated for a Video MTV music award and winning Gold at Cannes Young lions in print and film respectively for 2 years in a row, something that has never happened before.
His work also included him in the USA Forbes Magazine’s ‘30 under 30’ marketing and advertising professionals list in 2012, next to Pharell Williams, which is probably the closest he'll ever get to Pharell in real life.
But forget about Forbes. His biggest achievement happened at the beginning of his career: creating the biggest pop culture icon in Peruvian advertising to date, the Magic Cuy,
a giant guinea pig that talks like Yoda and gives financial tips to entrepreneurs.
Here's a pic with his partner on national television talking about the character. LOL!
